State Tennis Championship Recap

LEWISTON, Maine (WABI) – Bates College hosted the Class A, B, and C State Tennis Championships on Wednesday.

The Falmouth boys completed a perfect season by defeating Camden Hills, 5-0, for the Class A crown.

1 Singles: Matt Morneault (FAL) def. Will Meyer (CH) 6-1, 6-2

2 Singles: Sam Yoon (FAL) def. Oscar Barnes (CH) 6-0, 6-0

3 Singles: Adrian Mazurenko (FAL) def. Joey Scordino (CH) 6-2, 6-1

1 Doubles: Eli Sidhu and Luke Kusel (FAL) def. Charlie Nicolet and Toby Van Hoewyk (CH) 6-0, 6-0

2 Doubles: Dante Iannetta and Nick Roediger (FAL) def. Graham Eggena and Blake Christie (CH) 6-3, 7-5

The Falmouth girls swept Camden Hills for the Class A title. Both teams entered the match at 15-0 on the season.

1 Singles: Sofia Kirtchev (FAL) def. Hattie Moss (CH) 6-3, 6-2

2 Singles: Sophia Turker (FAL) def. Charlotte Delehey (CH) 6-2, 6-1

3 Singles: Phoebe Reilly (FAL) def. Atalanta Roberts (CH) 6-2, 6-4

1 Doubles: Gwen Long and Carley Iannetta (FAL) def. Rana Abess and Olive Van Hoewyk (CH) 6-4, 6-1

2 Doubles: Addie Morneault and Helena Nelson (FAL) def. Corynn Prescott and Abby Aldridge-Peacock (CH) 7-6, 6-1

The Yarmouth boys swept Foxcroft Academy in a match-up of 15-0 teams for the Class B State Championship.

1 Singles: Andre Violette (YAR) def. Jerry Nguyen (FA) 6-3, 6-0

2 Singles: James Hartnett (YAR) def. Max Balliet (FA) 6-2, 6-3

3 Singles: Xander Gordon (YAR) def. Fynn Eigen (FA) 6-4, 6-4

1 Doubles: Aidan Forrest and Aiden Brooks (YAR) def. Tom Nguyen and Lucas Machado (FA) 6-3, 6-0

2 Doubles: Chris Augur and John Nicholas (YAR) def. Henry Holman and Beckett Taylor (FA) 6-0, 6-0

The Lincoln Academy girls edged Old Town, 3-2, for the Class B state title.

1 Singles: London Hunter (LA) def. Sadie May (OT) 6-2, 6-3

2 Singles: Olive Siegel (LA) def. Ally Caron (OT) 2-6, 7-5, 6-3

3 Singles: Gigi Blake (LA) def. Savanna Lolar (OT) 6-2, 4-6, 6-1

1 Doubles: Sophie Morgan and Aliyah Curtis (OT) def. Olivia Crooker and Rozalie Vodrickova (LA) 7-5, 6-4

2 Doubles: Lily Mickel and Madison Davis (OT) def. Caroline Allan and Lauren Lee (LA) 7-6, 6-4

The Orono boys won the Class C state championship, 3-2, over Waynflete.

The Maranacook girls won the Class C state title, 5-0, over Piscataquis.
