Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have signed a player who can take Wrexham to the Premier League

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds want to take Wrexham to the top of the English game and one player will certainly help them achieve that.

A place in the Premier League is, at the very minimum, another season and a half away for Wrexham and that’s only if they win four promotions in a row.

While unlikely, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have been building up a Welsh juggernaut since their purchase of Wrexham in 2021 and are showing no signs of slowing down.

After disappointment under Dean Keates, Phil Parkinson was named manager and has completely transformed the Red Dragons.

They have gone from battling it out in the National to the top end of League One in the space of a few years.

With their aspirations much higher than the third tier, it’s inevitable there will be a lot of change at the Racecourse Ground in the coming years, much like we saw in the winter transfer window when Wrexham let several players leave, some of which were previously key.

Wrexham ace can carry Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds to the Premier League

However, there is one star already at the club who has the potential to help carry Wrexham all the way to the Premier League.

Given it will take at least a few years to achieve this, the likes of Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer will have to be moved on eventually.

But summer signing Lewis Brunt is proving time and time again that he’s a serious talent with the potential to one day be a Premier League football.

The centre-back had a slow start to life in Wales but after finally being given a chance in League One, he hasn’t looked back.

Wrexham fans praised Brunt for his latest showing against Bolton Wanderers – just one of many top performances from him this term.

Brunt is 24 years of age and should be in his prime years when, all being well, the Red Dragons are pushing for a place in the top flight.

Wrexham signing of Lewis Brunt praised

Brunt played on the opposite side of the backline on Tuesday evening but still earned the praise of the Wrexham faithful.

The former Leicester City man has earned plaudits throughout the campaign, including from Mia Roberts.

Speaking in late December, Roberts waxed lyric about Brunt and what a signing he has been for the club.

She said: “I think he’s just got so much to his game,” said Roberts.

“Week-by-week, it’s just looking like a better signing. Obviously, in the summer, Mansfield were desperate to get him and what a great coup that was to evade them.

“He has so many strengths and one of the biggest ones I love is when he goes on those little driving runs.

“He’s just getting better and better, he looks so comfortable on the ball and I think that’s what the game was calling out for from a Wrexham point of view, it needed people to be a bit more brave on the ball and he did that, he opened up the space, made a few opportunities from those runs and his leap as well, I just think he gets up so well and, like Max, he’s got age on his side.

“He’s a very young player and what a great asset for us to have.”
