Golf Business News – The Club Company hosts Women On Par events to boost female participation

The Club Company, the UK’s leading operator of country clubs, has teamed up with England Golf to inspire women to get into the game with the introduction to golf initiative called ‘Women on Par.

Women on Par offers women of any age – young, working or retired – the opportunity to be introduced to golf or to further their amateur game, whatever their current standard. The Club Company’s initiative offered women midweek or weekend three-hour intro sessions at all 18 of its clubs, these sessions began with a session on the driving range before heading out to experience the course in a Texas Scramble, supported by women members of the club. All participants were then invited to enjoy a drink in the bar together, creating friendships and hopefully future playing partners out on the course.

Club Company CEO Richard Calvert said: “We are seeing more and more women fall in love with the game of golf but still the numbers are not equal in terms of membership across the UK. We’d love to play a part in changing that and ensuring more women are getting out there on the green and improving their mind, body and soul at the same time.”

Cara Gainer, pro golfer and ambassador for The Club Company, commented: “When I first started playing golf 14 years ago it was still a very male-dominated sport. I’m so excited and inspired to see more women playing – starting from all ages. Women on Par is such a great initiative and I’m passionate about encouraging more girls and women to get involved – it’s such an exciting sport but the best bit is, unlike other sports, you can keep playing into your 80s.”

The Club Company has also partnered up with TV and radio presenter Jenni Falconer, who took to Instagram to say “So thrilled to have teamed up with The Club Company to encourage more women to have a go at golf. All ages, all abilities welcome. Just prepare to have fun!”

Jenni will also play a role as ambassador for an upcoming campaign in which The Club Company are looking to raise awareness for women’s health with a focus on those going through menopause, with their Let’s Talk Menopause series of events taking place this October across their collection of 18 clubs.
