KANSAS CITY — Innovation is trending in the frozen food aisle.
Nissin Foods, for example, is debuting a product line of frozen meals called Kanzen Meal. The prepared foods are offered in fettucine alfredo, spaghetti Bolognese and shrimp teriyaki. Each offers 23 grams of protein, 10 grams of fiber, more than one-third of the recommended daily values of all 27 essential vitamins and minerals, according to the company, and are free from added sugar. The meals range between 460 to 520 calories.
“Kanzen Meal is well ahead of what other CPG brands have been able to achieve in addressing consumer desire for nutrient dense meals, especially with the increase in GLP-1 usage, while still delivering taste and convenience,” said Robert Little, chief executive officer of Kanzen Meal. “Our priority was perfecting the flavor of each dish, which meant combining Nissin’s legacy of food science and technology with the artistry of top chefs to deliver a first-of-its kind meal solution consumers can easily find in the frozen meal section.”
Di Fara Pizzeria is unveiling a vodka sauce pizza formulated with San Marzana tomatoes, a cheese blend and dough topped with vodka sauce.
“We’re always looking for ways to share a true slice of Brooklyn with more people—without compromising the quality we’re known for,” said Margaret DeMarco, co-owner of Di Fara. “This is the first time anyone’s put vodka sauce on a frozen pizza at this level. It’s a little rebellious, a little nostalgic, and 100% Di Fara.”
Food Lion is rolling out a frozen pizza line with a nine-product launch: classic crust cheese pizza, classic crust pepperoni pizza, classic crust supreme pizza, rising crust 3 meat pizza, rising crust 4 cheese pizza, rising crust pepperoni pizza, thin crust margherita pizza, thin crust white cheese pizza and thin crust barbecue chicken pizza.
